Puppies and Parties

Yesterday and the day before I was working hard on getting my birthday party invitations made. And, the dogs got beautiful haircuts! But, Blogger is being weird so, I have no pictures. :o(

Luckily though it looks as though we're getting a few outdoor cats from the pound this year! :oD
I'm in charge of naming them (YAY!) and I was originally going to do Eponine, Cosette, Enjolras and Marius (from Les Miserables) but I think I'll keep those names where they belong--to the characters. I guess I'm not a huge fan of naming pets after others.

Okay, I am really bad at this blog thing.....

Hehehe. Well, Spring Break took out its full meaning on me and I neglected to post birthday/easter photos. Oops! Though actually I didn't know we were going to my aunt's house directly from church, therefore, I didn't get the camera. Again I say, oops! :o)

Well, I had a good birthday--Mom and I took the train downtown and walked to Marshall Field's (yes, I know it's called Macy's now but I'm not taking part in that change. Ha!) where I found the most gorgeous chandeleir (pic below) and then went (dun dun dun) to the Oriental theatre and saw WICKED. More on that show below. Enjoy the pics!

The official birthday celebration and my birthday pie :o)

I hadn't put make-up (or anything of the sort) on and I'm wearing my oversized (warm, because it's still FREAKIN COLD. Grr!) Canada sweatshirt BUT I had to show blowing out candles, duh!

Scenes from the train:

and of the city:
And that pretty chandelier (I want it!)

And the camera died before I could get a picture of a Wicked poster....ARGH! Just my luck right? :o) BUT the show--wow, it was GREAT!!! I had obviously heard so many many good things about it and had pretty high expectations, and they were fulfilled. Everyone has to see this once in their life--the costumes, the set, and the MONKEYS!!! I sure did love the flying monkeys. :o)

St. Patrick's day

Today was kind of a down-ish day, actually. I don't know what's been up with me lately....I've just been, well, I don't know. But....I'm not here to complain about teenage hormones....no, tonight's rehearsal was far more interesting....and green!! :oP

Thinking of summer

The warm weather the other reminded me of what I could start looking forward to: Summer!

I'm going to be 14 this Saturday and in HIGH SCHOOL this fall.....!!!!! After discussing the matter my Mom and I decided to send me to school for it. Which will, no doubt, be a transition. So.

I want to remember this summer....my last summer before making that transition. I want it to be fun, carefree, but not completely work-free. Get my drift? I want to get used to working hard before dealing with all the long school hours and the homework.

Now I'm not saying I'm going to work too much this summer, but more that I want to commit to alot. I want to bike 6 miles every weekend with my Daddy, I want to plant and work on my very own garden, I want to finish at least 10 projects for 4-H. I want commitment.

So blogging this is making me excessively excited. Ooh, alliteration! :o) Just kidding!!! Enjoy the rest of the weekend and YOUR summer!

Right now......

the snow has just stopped falling. The cars whizzing by outside make a wet, comforting ffsshhiinngg sound as they pass. I am wearing my monkey PJ pants and thinking of another monkey-lover in heaven. I am taking a break from my schoolwork; a nice long one thanks to my mother's consent. Tonight I have play practice and on Wednesday I'm learning Irish dance for the show, something I've always wanted to do. I'm looking forward to summer and my birthday, and for my brother and sister coming home (or, former home) soon. And life sure is good right now......really, really good. :o)

Eureka

Have you ever had something said to you that really got you thinking even though you didn't want to think about it? Does that make sense? Well, I had that happen to me a couple weeks ago at my co-op (a one-day school where they send you home with loads of homework to complete over the week).

My friend Rachel and I are in Placing Out together and we know this friend of mine. On Rachel's first impression upon the silly way we treat each other she thought there was a little
something-something going on. (There isn't, we're just tight like, brother and sister) So she dubbed him my "Atheist Boyfriend" as he is, an atheist.

Of course, someone overhearing our conversation may actually think I DO have an atheist boyfriend, so my thoughtful friend mentioned to everyone that is was a joke. I added the infamous line "We're just friends." I got a look from a classmate that looked like it was saying, "You're friends with a non-believer?"

I am. He is a great friend. Does it bother me that is an atheist? A great deal.
Then.....why am I friends with him?

That was the question that came into my mind. I dismissed it. It came back. I thought it over.

Galatians 6:1-2
Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.

I found the answer. What a reassurance and a relief it is, to find those answers!!!!
